Here are some process shots of one of the characters for my next illustration. There is still lots to do, but I’ll be posting process work as I go along. The ducktape is not permanent, it’s just there to hold the wire in place for now.

Check out his bum…hehe
I made this piece to be given away on ToyCyte’s custoMONDAYs. It will be up for grabs on the 16th of March. All you have to do is add a comment (on ToyCyte) for a chance to win this awesome one of a kind sculpture made by me.
He is made from a combination of faux fur, sculpey, wire, cotton and acrylic paint. He stands 11 inches tall and is about 8 inches wide.
He will be the main character of my next illustration-which should be done shortly. I will have prints available for sale. I’ll post a link soon, so be sure to check back!
This is Merle, he is a puppet that I have recently been working on.
It took me a long time to figure out how to create Merle’s body suit. I wanted him to be very round and soft, so that I can animate him if I choose to. This is not something that I normally do. Usually I would have built foam around the wire frame until I had the desired shape and then hand stitched the clothes around it. This time I constructed the suit first and then stuffed him with cotton. He is built with a wire frame and stands on his own. I am very happy with how he has turned out. Yay!
