Here’s the second illustration that I made for the show and a little story about it.

Children of the Bavarian countryside speak in whispers of the giant salamander known for devouring those who stray too far from home. The salamander wears a koala costume to disguise its true nature from its prey. The child lured from safety by the koala’s offered balloons soon joins the floating forsaken as the balloons are the captured souls of eaten children. Few know that the beast’s name is Sally.

I want to thank everyone that came out to see the show. It was a lot of fun! I hope you all enjoyed yourselves and saw some work that inspires you.

So this is one of the illustrations that I made for “Happily Never After” at Keep Six Contemporary.

Here’s a story that I wrote to go with it:

Once, long ago, three birds were caught by an evil old man who clipped their wings to keep them from flying away. Trapped in the house, they were desperate to escape. One day, when the old man was out, they slipped away through the crack in the door. Scared for their lives they walked as fast and far as they could. Unexpectedly, they found themselves in the middle of a desert. It seemed the more they walked the more the desert surrounded them. Hungry and thirsty they roamed the empty wastes when, on the brink of madness, they discovered three small blue flowers growing from the sand. The birds could hardly believe their eyes and wondered how anything could live in such a desolate land. Thinking that this was a good omen they decided to bed down for the night, never to wake again.

The character from this illustration will be in C1 Artspace’s All Dolled up Show.

Opening reception is May 2, 2-5 pm.

The Gold Horned Hexapede bear roams the Arctic in search of her long lost love. Hexa is the last of her kind, her breed having been killed off by man. Hexa is the giant of the arctic tundra. In her mouth she carries the man that killed her partner, half eaten and still alive. He stares out from the beast’s mouth motionless and starved.

This is Uli the owl egg thief. The character from this illustration will be in C1 Artspace’s All Dolled up Show.

Opening reception is May 2, 2-5 pm.

Uli the ovivore is an owl egg thief. Owl eggs are a delicacy to his kind, but stealing them is no easy task. Uli’s owl disguise allows him to enter the nest undetected to fetch his coveted eggs.

The furry friends were once held and loved by many. One day one accidentally killed the son of a very powerful witch. She cursed the furry friends, so that everything they touch dies. They are forced to carry around their childhood stuffed bears with guts spewing out of them to ward people off.

A little grim I know, but I thought that it would make an interesting illustration…It does, doesn’t it?

I’ve been experimenting with some new techniques lately. I hope you like it

This Illustration was a follow up to Mr. Fon’dell. They were supposed to be a pair (sort of a his/hers kinda thing), however I thought that it would be interesting to paint the background blue rather than a flesh tone, in hopes to create a more subtle effect.
